Acupuncture

The theory of acupuncture is ancient. Doctors, however, dispute that the effects of acupuncture can be anything but in your head. Still, the more open-minded among the bunch point out that if it works for you, use it.

Not for people with fears of needles. What’s more, acupuncture requires frequent trips and return treatments and is rather expensive compared to the price of ED meds online.

Chiropractic Treatment

Since the nervous system and blood flow play important roles in sending sex signals throughout your body, which is important for getting erections, chiropractic treatment makes a lot of sense. If there are disruptions in nervous communications, spinal adjustments could help, some physicians think.
Lower lumbar adjustments are the most likely to have an effect.

Most physicians contacted for this article do dispute the idea that chiropractic treatment can be anywhere near as effective as medical treatment, while acknowledging its effectiveness for muscle and joint pain as well as headaches.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

Erectile dysfunction is often a result of mental factors:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Fatigue
  • Stress

For these issues, cognitive-behavioral therapy is the only permanent solution. While erectile dysfunction medications will still work, psychology should also be used to try to create a better long-term fix.

You will learn methods for dealing with stress, anxiety, and depression, and there is often a special focus on lifestyle changes.

Dietary Therapy

For most cases of ED, diet is a major component in permanently solving your problem. This is because all of the following are related to diet and ED:

  • Cholesterol
  • Blood pressure
  • Vitamin deficiencies
  • Stress hormones
  • Weight

Obese people tend to struggle with erectile dysfunction most. Type 2 Diabetics, of which 50% or more suffer from ED, tend to have a history of poor dietary choices as well – and new studies show that the most effective treatment for diabetes is diet change.

In term of vitamin issues, all dietitians spoken to recommended a diet high in several different fruits and vegetables.
The recommended diet for all of these conditions and especially for people with erectile dysfunction is vegetable based. Eliminate meat form your diet as much as possible, especially chicken! While chicken is leaner and has less bad cholesterol than red meat, it is pumped full of hormones and antibiotics by chicken factories, which are absorbed by your body and cause stress, anxiety, and ED.

Good foods to include are:

  • Fresh fruits and veggies
  • Whole grains
  • Soy
  • Nuts

Focus on getting various vitamins, trace minerals, and dietary fiber.

Exercise

You can manage the fatigue, stress, anxiety, and high blood pressure that cause ED by starting a regular exercise routine. Get 20 minutes of good cardiovascular exercise every day:

  • Jogging
  • Basketball
  • Tennis
  • Quick walking
  • Bicycling
  • Swimming

In addition, exercise releases endorphins and increases production of sex hormones.

Nutritional Supplements

A deficiency in the hormone dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) can cause ED and can be fixed by supplements. Use:

  • Vitamins C & E
  • Arginine
  • Bioflavonoids
  • Flax
  • Zinc

Viagra

As many as 85% of ED cases can be treated with Viagra. Diet, exercise, and therapy are best for permanent solutions, but Viagra is a cheap way to beat ED throughout if you shop online.

Anemia or iron poor blood is a condition where there aren’t enough healthy red blood cells in the body to carry sufficient amounts of oxygen to the tissues. Each of our red blood cells contains hemoglobin, an iron rich protein that gives it its red color. Hemoglobin is responsible for the transportation of oxygen from the lungs to other parts of the body.

If you loose too many red blood cells, destroy them before they are replaced or produce cells that are unhealthy, you can end up experiencing symptoms of anemia. Symptoms can include fatigue, chest pain, angina, shortness of breath, irritability, dizziness, light headedness, rapid heartbeat, numbness or coldness in extremities, headaches or pale skin.

Anemia can result from inherited disorders, nutritional problems (such as iron or vitamin deficiency) infections, some kinds of cancer, exposure to drugs or toxins. In fact there are over 400 different forms of anemia; however, in this article we will focus on the most common forms, iron deficiency anemia, B12 deficiency and folate deficiency.

Iron Deficiency Anemia – Iron deficiency anemia occurs when the amount of iron in the body is too low, thus affecting hemoglobin production. It is most often found where there is ongoing blood loss, such as in women with heavy menstrual periods, as well as in individuals who suffer from conditions such as bleeding ulcers, gastroenteritis, hemorrhoids, colon polyps or colon cancer. Other causes can include issues with absorption, where the body is unable to absorb iron from the foods we eat, or eating a diet low in iron.

In addition to iron, the body needs vitamin B12 and folic acid to produce healthy red blood cells. A diet lacking in these nutrients are prone to anemia as well.

B12 Anemia – There are a few reasons why someone may suffer from B12 anemia. They include the inability of the body to absorb vitamin B12, such as those with intestinal disorders which affect absorption of nutrients. The individual may also suffer from Pernicious Anemia where the body stops producing a substance called “intrinsic factor”, which is needed to absorb B12 from the diet. Another cause many of us have heard of is a vegetarian diet which excludes eggs, dairy products, meat and fish – all of which are sources of vitamin B12.

Folate Deficiency – Similar in cause to B12 Anemia is folate deficiency. Folate, or folic acid is found in foods such as leafy green vegetables. Over the years, cases of folate deficiency in the US have declined, since many of the grain product and cereals we eat are fortified with folic acid. During pregnancy, however, increased levels of folic acid are necessary to prevent defects of the brain and spiral cord of the fetus.

Thankfully, there are a number of natural and alternative health remedies you can try to help restore health, healing and wholeness in your life.

Recommendations For Wellness

In addressing anemia it is important to know its cause, so talk to your doctor and ask him/her to run a blood test to evaluate your health and help you to determine what type of anemia you may have.

Excessive iron can be toxic to the body, so do not take iron supplements without first talking to your health care provider.

Eat a well balanced diet which includes a variety of whole grains and fresh fruits and vegetables.

Avoid drinking coffee, tea, beer or cola drinks with your meals. They can significantly lower iron absorption. Instead, drink citrus juices or supplement with vitamin C. Vitamin C has been show to help support the body’s ability to absorb iron.

Take a high quality vitamin and mineral supplement to support any nutritional deficiencies that may be found in the body.

Herbs such as dong quai, dandelion, barley greens and alfalfa are all great sources of vitamins and minerals.

The herb yellow dock is a natural and organic source of iron as is blackstrap molasses.

Panax ginseng can be used to help counteract the fatigue experience by those who suffer from anemia.

If your anemia is associated with a B12 deficiency or folic acid deficiency, supplement with a complex B vitamin. Folic acid needs the catalysts vitamins B12 and B6 to carry out its functions effectively.

Ovarian cancer is a disease that affects the female reproductive organs. It starts when the process of cell division goes wrong in the ovaries and they start to multiply in a rapid and out of control way. This leads to a cancerous growth which then causes a tumour to form. It is not known exactly what causes this type of cancer but age, ovulation and family history are all thought to have an influence. If a tumour does form it often starts to press on the surrounding cells causing pain, discomfort and other undesirable symptoms in these areas. In this article I will be discussing three of these ovarian cancer symptoms in greater detail.

1) BLOATING OF THE STOMACH:- If you contract ovary cancer and the tumour grows large enough it may cause the stomach to physically bloat. Whilst bloating is not necessarily a sign of ovarian cancer it is a cause for concern if it cannot be explained. Therefore, if you notice that your stomach has become bloated and can think of no logical reason why go see your doctor straight away. They will be able to perform some tests and let you know what is causing your stomach to swell.

2) IRREGULAR PERIODS:- Normally the ovaries release an egg once a month. If this egg is not fertilised it passes out of the body during a woman’s monthly period. However, if a cancerous tumour has developed it may block the ovaries making it difficult for eggs to be released. This may then have an impact on your periods. Therefore, if your periods seem to change for no apparent reason go see your doctor right away. Again there are many factors that can cause your periods to be irregular but your doctor will be able to let you know if it is related to ovarian cancer.

3) PAIN IN YOUR LOWER ABDOMEN OR SIDES:- If the tumour gets big enough it can start to place pressure on the ovaries. This can lead to pain in your lower abdomen or sides. Many women confuse these symptoms with PMS pains. However, if you start to experience them when you are not currently on your period you should go see your doctor immediately. The pains may not be related to ovarian cancer but your doctor will be able to perform the tests and let you know for sure.

I hope this article has given you a better insight in to some of the potential warning signs for ovarian cancer. Whilst your first instinct may be to brush these symptoms of as the result PMS, you should step back and think for a second before doing this. If there is no logical reason behind these symptoms then the chances are something is not right. They may be nothing to do with ovary cancer but it is far better to see your doctor and get a conclusive, professional opinion on the matter.

Whilst every intention has been made to make this article accurate and informative, it is intended for general information only. Ovarian cancer is a very serious, life threatening condition and you should discuss any concerns, treatments or lifestyle changes fully with your doctor.

When exploring the negative effects associated with cocaine abuse, it is important to know that this illegal substance possesses one of the most powerful central nervous system stimulants found in nature. The white, crystalline powder comes from the coca plant that often grows in climates such as the highlands in South America. While the coca leaves once served as a medicinal aid in the Andes, it has now turned into a chemical monster that is sold on the streets as one of the most notoriously addicting drugs.

While acting as a stimulant for the central nervous system, the heart begins to beat at a rapid pace when the drug is introduced into the body. Blood vessels constrict, which creates a greater supply of blood in the body. Since the blood vessels narrow, the increased volume of blood is unable to move, which increases the potential for a host of medical issues to arise. At first, the drug decreases the user’s appetite while at the same time increases alertness, energy levels, and self-confidence.

The longer cocaine is used, the more dependent the body becomes on the drug, creating an increased amount of negative effects. High doses of the drug cause delusions, paranoia, and even the threat of acute toxic psychosis. Blood pressure levels increase, which makes the user susceptible to heart attacks and strokes. In some, these effects can take a quick turn for the worst, sometimes causing death. When the drug finally wears off, depression may take over, causing the user to feel jumpy, anxious, and tired.

Cocaine abuse eventually breaks down the body to the point that the consequences far outweigh the euphoria the drug once created. As the user becomes more dependant and addicted, the accompanying side effects are often ignored. It usually takes others to intervene and encourage one to seek help for their chemical dependency. Excessive cocaine use may cause neurological conditions, such as seizures, fungal brain infections, and hemorrhaging about surrounding brain tissue. The lungs may fill with fluid and asthma may become more difficult to handle. Respiratory failure may also occur.

Users also suffer from psychosis, paranoia, depression, anxiety disorders, as well as fits of delusion. The user may also increase their chances of suffering from traumatic injury that come from accidents, aggression, violence, or criminal activity. Additional negative effects associated with cocaine abuse include sleeplessness, sexual dysfunction, spontaneous abortion, premature labor, low-birth weight babies, nausea, and headaches.

There are many types of allergies and the most common is hay fever. Hay fever is a common nasal allergy to airborne substances such as pollens or molds, and the term has also been used for other allergies such as to animal dander. Hay fever is also known as allergic rhinitis. Allergic rhinitis is commonly known as runny nose; it is the irritation and inflammation of some internal areas of the nose.

Hay fever is caused by an allergic reaction to the allergen pollen. When pollen particles are breathed in, the body’s immune system overreacts because it believes it to be a harmful substance. The body then produces an antibody, immunoglobulin E (IgE) to fight it off. The IgE antibody stimulates the release of certain chemicals, such as histamine, to flush the pollen out of the airways.

The symptoms are often similar to cold such as runny and itchy nose, sneezing, and teary eyes. Asthma can also be developed with these symptoms. Other symptoms and signs include blocked nose, coughing, postnasal drip, itching eyes, itching throat, dark circles under the eyes, conjunctivitis, red-rimmed eyes, and swollen eyes, crusting of eyelids and wheezing.

To minimize the annoying symptoms, you need to avoid contact with the allergens that causes the symptoms. Some prevention tips are:

Keep your doors and windows closed during high pollen season. When going out, wear sunglasses or glasses to protect your eyes. Avoid mowing the lawn during summer and avoid lying on freshly cut grass. Keep your clothes, garments and bedding clean to avoid the sticking pollens. Make sure that you shower before going to bed to wash out all the pollens in your skin and hair. Clean your house regularly to minimize the presence of dust mites. Avoid having pets, if not keep them outside and don’t allow them to get inside your bedroom.

This type of allergy can be treated by medications. Antihistamines are the most common drugs used against the immune system. This is to treat a case where the immune system is over reacting. Decongestants can help reduce the symptoms of nasal congestion runny nose. They work by causing the vessels within the nasal passages to constrict or become smaller. There are also other alternatives that you can choose from to treat hay fever. Some of which are quercetin, butterbur, carotenoids, omega 3 fatty acids, acupuncture, hypnosis, nettle, saline nasal spray, air purifier, yoga and more.

When dealing with pain people usually want to have a wide selection of options to overcome it with. Depending on the type and severity of pain, as well as personal inclinations, people will use either medication or natural pain relief options, sometimes combining them for the best result. And sometimes it may seem as the different forms of pain relief available are competing against each other. Of course, a more correct approach would be seeing the wide selection of analgesics of different types as inter-related means of dealing with the same problem, just as you use different antibiotics to fight the same illness. So knowing your most widespread pain relief options is highly recommended as opposed to sticking with just one method all the time.

Oral medications

Oral painkillers are definitely at the top of everyone’s list when it comes to choosing a solution for pain relief. Nothing beats the convenience of taking a single pill that is able to relieve even severe pain within minutes. Of course, there are downsides to most oral medications as well, and there are numerous types of drugs you can use for pain management out there. The most popular painkillers these days are drugs like Ultram, which work by blocking pain signals from entering the brain. By employing such a mechanism of action you can get rid of virtually any type of pain, even neurologic that is quite hard to manage. Drugs like aspirin and other anti-inflammatory medications are also often used as analgesics, although they only help in case of inflammatory processes causing the pain. Oral medications are usually helpful in cases of acute pain, although can also be prescribed for chronic pain.

Physical therapy

Physical therapy is quite a popular pain management technique for chronic pain conditions resulted from physical trauma or muscle dysfunctions. It involves physical manipulation and massaging of the affected muscles, muscle groups and joints in order to faster restore proper functioning of this area and eliminate pain. Of course, it may be not as rapid as taking drugs like Ultram, since you’ll need a couple of sessions in order to experience improvements, but this method is virtually free of any side effects. Yet, physical therapy should only be performed by a professional.

Herbal pain relief

There is an enormous selection of herbal and all-natural pain relief solutions available on the market. Usually based on a selection of herbs that are known for their analgesic effects such as Valerian, Peppermint, Tumeric, St. Johns Worth and many others, such solutions provide an effective and virtually harmless pain management. However, the biggest shortcoming of herbal pain relief is the same as with physical therapy – it takes some time for the treatment to take effect. That’s why herbal analgesics are usually recommended for chronic pain conditions.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has become quite a popular if not to say fashionable option in the last decade, with acupuncture offices opening up in all big and smaller cities. Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese treatment method that involves application of small needles to specific points on the surface of the body that are believed to influence specific internal regions in the body. Specialists claim that virtually any medical condition can be treated this way. While it is not yet confirmed, numerous tests have actually confirmed the effectiveness of acupuncture for managing chronic pain and conditions causing it. It’s not very useful for acute pain however, since it also requires a set of sessions to provide any effects.

Among all health problems and conditions erectile dysfunction is certainly the most uncomfortable to talk about for the average man. Male psyche is firmly linked to sexuality and when problems occur you can expect a shift in behavior and overall quality of life in a male patient. The traditional approach to sexuality and everything related to it that our society has overcome in only the past few decades doesn’t make it any easier. Some men still believe that discussing such matters even with their doctors isn’t a good idea since the topic is a taboo. Of course, such a misconception isn’t constructive at all and in order to get any adequate treatment you’ll need the help of your doctor. So how should you discuss erectile dysfunction with your doctor?

The first step to discussing ED with your physician is actually informing him that you have intimate problems. You can do this during your regular check-up or during a special consultation. Being shy about your problems won’t be very helpful while talking about it. Inform your doctor that you have problems with erection and he will certainly ask you for how long and how frequently these problems take place. Be informative and descriptive on the matter because the more precise you will be the easier it will be for your doctor to make a diagnosis and choose the correct course of action.

After you’ve discussed your erectile problems with your physician you are likely to be directed to additional tests and exams. Erectile dysfunction is often a sign of more serious health conditions including hypertension, diabetes, heart diseases, hormonal imbalance, prostate issues and even cancer. That’s why you’ll have to go through respective tests in order to pinpoint the exact health condition that lies at the base of your erectile dysfunction.

Once the exact cause behind erectile dysfunction has been identified the doctor will be able to choose adequate treatment to restore your erectile functions. Despite the common belief, ED treatment is not limited to drugs like Viagra and doesn’t rely solely on them. Sure, you can receive a Viagra prescription for normalizing your sexual activity for a certain period but actual treatment goes far beyond than that. You’ll have to get rid of the problem at cause in order to wave erectile dysfunction goodbye and this can be a lengthy process. For example, if erectile dysfunction in your case is caused by high cholesterol then you’ll have to go through the full course of normalizing your cholesterol levels in order to gain any results. Of course, this isn’t as rapid as taking some Viagra pills to get yourself going but it’s a really effective measure that will have a positive impact on your health in overall.

Don’t lay off your doctor visit if erectile dysfunction troubles you. The earlier you start treating the condition the easier and more effective the treatment will be. Of course, it takes a bit of courage for some men to talk about such things as their sexual abilities but it’s better to do it rather than leave it alone and forget about having erections at all later.

Most of us are very accustomed to the feeling of heartburn or acidic aftertaste in the mouth after eating a good big meal. Quite commonly these sensations are symptoms of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). It is estimated that nearly all people experience this condition to various degrees at some points of their lives, but about one in ten adult Americans struggles with constant GERD and associated symptoms. Fortunately for them, it’s a treatable condition but not all of those who suffer from GERD take the effort to learn about it.

The most common causes behind acid reflux are high acidity on the stomach and weak or dysfunctional LES (lower esophageal sphincter). When there’s too much acid in the stomach it tends to reflux into the esophagus with the food that has been consumed recently. There’s no special protective lining in the esophagus that would protect it from acid like in the stomach, and this causes irritation and inflammation – what we experience as heartburn. The muscle connecting the stomach and esophagus – LES – is responsible for keeping the food in the stomach after it is transmitted through the esophagus. If this muscle is weak than it’s easier for the food to get back into the esophagus, causing irritation and heartburn.

There are different options for eliminating the symptoms of GERD. Most commonly people resort to medications due to the dependency on advanced medicine in general. There’s a wide range of drugs that can help eliminate even the most severe heartburn. Drugs like Nexium, Zantac, Prilosec and many others will effectively reduce any acid reflux problems if taken on a regular basis. The main effect of drugs like Nexium is the reduction of acidity levels in the stomach, which reduces the risk of acid reflux and consequent damage to the esophagus. However, many people don’t realize that the same effects can be achieved through simple lifestyle changes.

First of all, you should review your diet in order to minimize the intake of substances that provoke acid reflux. Some of them are definitely tasty, but if your heartburn gets worse with time then you should sacrifice pleasure from eating specific foods to being healthy in general. Some foods that are known to provoke acid reflux include citrus fruits, tomatoes, chocolate, caffeine, alcohol, onions, peppermint, fatty foods, most soft drinks and full fat dairy products. The way you eat your food is also very important. Try to avoid eating large meals that make you literally full, resort to smaller portions that can be consumed more often if needed. Avoid eating in less than 3 hours before going to bed or performing physical exercises, otherwise you risk promoting acid reflux by your physical positions.

By following these simple guidelines you will effectively reduce the risk of acid reflux. Of course, if your condition doesn’t improve after taking all these measures, it’s a serious cause for concern and you will need to address a doctor as soon as possible. It may be a sign of a more serious medical condition that even drugs like Nexium won’t be effective against.

Arthritis is quite a common health condition, affecting millions of Americans alone. The term “arthritis” itself is used to describe a whole group of health conditions that are characterized by inflammatory processes in the joints, which cause chronic pain and joint stiffness. There are many different forms of arthritis as well as treatment methods used that depend on the specific type of condition and health situation in every individual seeking treatment.

The most common types of arthritis disorders are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It is estimated that there are about 40 million of Americans suffering from these two conditions alone.

  • Osteoarthritis is described by the gradual deterioration of cartilage between bones in joints, which results in painful sensations and dysfunction of the affected joints.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis is described by inflammatory processes in the lining of joints, which are usually more severe than in cases of osteoarthritis.

In most cases arthritis and the associated painful sensations are caused by a set of factors, such as:

  • Inflammatory processes in different elements of the joint. This is usually accompanied by redness and swelling in the affected region.
  • Damage of joint tissue resulting from trauma or excessive joint use.

There are different methods for treating arthritis and relieving associated symptoms such as chronic pain. Choosing a particular treatment option means taking a series of factors into considerations such as type of arthritis, its severity, patient’s lifestyle, other health conditions and many others. That’s why it should be done by a healthcare professional who will be able to select the right treatment plan and adjust it to your specific situation.

Relieving the pain associated with arthritis often becomes the main challenge when treating the condition, since it’s nearly always associated with chronic pain. It is important to distinguish the type of pain relief you’re aiming at, since long and short term pain relief usually have different means of delivery.

For having short term arthritis pain relief many people use cold/hot therapy as the primary form of non-medication pain management. As the name suggests these two therapies are based on applying heat or cold to the affected area for some time in order to relieve pain. Cold can effectively numb and reduce sensitivity in nerve endings, which leads to pain relief for some time. Heat can act as a muscle relaxant, which is very useful in joint conditions such as arthritis. However, it is important to exercise these methods with moderation and try to not mix both in a short period of time.

Of course, the most popular pain relief option for pain management in arthritis is using oral medications. There are different types of medications used, each having its specific use and set of benefits. For example, analgesic drugs like Ultram can be used for relieving any kind of pain but they won’t reduce inflammation in the joint. NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as aspirin and ibuprofen aren’t painkillers, but they are effective in reducing inflammation, which in turn can provide a certain degree of pain relief.

For long term pain relief there are more radical measures available. NSAIDs are also used, but more commonly doctors prescribe hormones, steroids and DMARDs (disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs) for modulating the immune response and reducing inflammation in general. Long term measures such as weight loss and physical therapy are also applied for pain management, but Ultram still stays the most popular medication for this kind of physical problem.

Ahhh… SUPERTONIC… it cleans and burns it way through the body, cleansing everything out of it’s way that is an alien force!

Could it be the alternative to the dreaded swine flu shot??

Unlike most other flu remedies that taste absolutely horrible where you have to hold your nose and belly, just to get a swallow down, the super tonic actually feels good as it finds it’s way through your body.

Made of easy to find ingredients found at the local grocery stores or health food stores this is a MUST HAVE for every family that wants to avoid the swine flu and is a great natural remedy tincture to have on hand if you are like me, and really do not want to give the flu shot to your family.

It takes two weeks for it to mature so don’t wait till last minute to start making it.

Supertonic Recipe

You will need a gallon jar – preferably glass.

You will need a jug of apple cider vinegar and 2 cups of each of the following:

horse radish garlic cloves ginger root white onion hot peppers(jalapeno, habenero)

Chop or dice each item in a blender or food chopper.

Place the two cups of each item and some apple cider vinegar into the blender and chop.

They do not have to be chopped very fine – just enough so that it is all kinda mixed together….and you don’t have to peel anything – it will blend just fine without peeling.

Pour each mixture into the gallon jar. Top off with vinegar, cover and let sit for two weeks.

Strain and pour the tincture into small glass jars and keep refrigerated.

This will keep a long time.

It is a natural tonic so the dosage is up to you. A teaspoon is enough for most folks but it won’t harm you to take more. :)
